  Spain 2023

Rugby Libre Spain Information

After visiting several countries, in autumn 2023 the former rugby player's NGO has been on tour in seven different parts of Spain, sharing the values of this sport to help generate a positive social impact on vulnerable groups.

After three editions in South America and two in Africa, Rugby Libre joins the rest of the solidarity projects developed by the NGO in the national territory, setting foot in Europe for the first time in seven years. The tour has visited Barcelona, Valencia, Tudela, Zamora, Ourense, Vigo and Madrid with the mission of promoting rugby and its values as a means of social education and expression of individual freedom.

The initiative has offered a program aimed mainly at vulnerable groups - such as people with diverse abilities, women victims of gender violence and young people at risk of exclusion - with the aim of promoting positive social transformation and building a better world for all through education in values.

Likewise, Rugby Libre has developed activities open to the general public and clubs, who have had the opportunity to collaborate with the NGO by being part of the volunteer team, becoming members or collecting donations.

As a novelty, the Rugby Libre 2023 tour, in addition to having sports activities such as training and workshops, has dedicated part of its programming to cultural and artistic disciplines such as painting, music and theater aimed at promoting the social inclusion that the organization defends. nonprofit.

The Rugby Libre Spain Tour has had the participation of numerous leaders from the world of sport, such as the internationals Clàudia Peña, María Calvo and Ariana Pérez; and former players Berta García Alonso, Rocío García Eiras and Isabel Rico.

The project has also been supported by figures from the world of art and culture, such as the singer Brisa Fenoy and the artists Galletamaria and Bertolotto.

In line with the new approach that advocates the coexistence of sport and culture, it is also expected that both the exhibition of photos taken in previous editions and the premiere of the new documentary 'The Fifity Kicks', recorded last year during Rugby Libre Kenya and co-produced by La Maquina de Luz, Manila Films and PGR ONG.

In the words of Patricia García, president of the entity: "Bringing this project to Spain is one of the most important milestones for PGR ONG. With this initiative we want to share the values of this sport with those people who need it most, promote inclusion, help make a significant difference in our own communities and remember that it is not always necessary to go far to help. We invite everyone to join this close cause, collaborate as volunteers and be part of the positive social transformation we can achieve together, right here, in our own land.”
